MacDonald Dress Modern is a white-based tartan with dark green, blue and red checks. This tartan descended from Donald, grandson of Somerled of the Isles, and is the oldest and more famous of all Scottish Clans. They supported Bruce in his struggle for Independence, but their claim to the Earldom of Ross brought them into conflict with the Crown.
